Autumn Newsletter 2019 (Shoreham)
Christmas Fair – Saturday 30th November 10-12pm
We invite you all to come along to our annual Christmas fair. Please feel free to bring friends, relatives and even your next-door neighbour. Everyone is welcome. This year all money raised will got towards the children’s Christmas parties and any left over will go towards resources.
Entry will be 50p per adult and this will also get you entry into the “guess the baby” contest. Father Christmas will be making an appearance. To avoid disappointment, we are asking you to pre book a time slot at a cost of £1.50 which on the day you will receive a lovely gift. There will be lots of games to play as well as teas and coffee. Please can we ask that you bring small change if possible. If you can make any donations towards our raffle, tombola or cakes they would be greatly received.
From the 1st November you will no longer be able to pay by cash or cheque at the nursery. You can however make a BACS transfer or pay by card. Please see Laura or Claire for more information on how to do this.
As you should now be all aware Laura is unfortunately leaving us on Friday 13th December. She is off for a slight career change working for West Sussex. We wish her the very best of luck in her new role and we will all be sad to see her go. We are still recruiting for her position, but please be rest assured that we are taking a long process in order to find someone who has a vast amount of experience within childcare, especially within a managers role and someone who will bring passion and drive towards the nursery.
For those of you who are on a term time only contract the last day of term is Friday 13th December and you will return on Thursday 2nd January.
If you would like to book any additional sessions between these dates, please speak to Laura or Claire.
Family Boards – Please can we ask you to bring a family photo to nursery or email it so that we can print them for our family boards. The children have been loving looking at their family photos and it is sparking lovely conversations about themselves so it would be great if you haven’t already to please bring one for your child. If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s room leader.
Clothes – Please can we remind you to name all your children’s clothes, especially coats, hats and jumpers. As the weather is getting wet, we are changing children more often and it is easier for us to identify the children’s belongings if they are named. The children can free flow most of the day so please make sure you provide suitable clothing and footwear for the wet and mud outside. All in one wet suits or waterproof trousers are such a winner in this weather. We have a limited number of spares clothes so please provide some spare clothes should your child need changing.
Planning – As you may have noticed you are now seeing less on the parent zone. Over the passed few months we have been reviewing how we plan for the children and how we can ensure the children are receiving the best tailored learning opportunities for their individual interests. One of the ways we have implemented this is to reduce the amount of paperwork we now do. As per OFSTED requirements we now assess your children once per term and are recording less observations. We are spending more time engaging on a 1-1 level with each child for better quality interactions. So, when you do see photo’s and observations it will reflect an important milestone. Any questions please speak to your key person.
