Spring Newsletter 2019 (Lower Beeding)

Staffing update

It is with regret that we are having to inform you that Rob will be relocating to Rocking Horse, our Hampshire Nursery. Rob’s last day at A Step Ahead Lower Beeding will be Thursday 28th February 2019, we wish Rob all the best in his new role.

We are delighted advise you that Ashlee has successfully completed her Level 3 childcare training, we are so very pleased and proud of her. Ashlee has achieved a lot whilst being in training, showing enthusiasm and forming great bonds with all children and their families. As part  of Ashlee’s progression, we are delighted to announce that she will be moving into the Bumblebee Room to become their Deputy Room Leader working alongside Georgia. Both Ashlee and Georgia will continue to develop the room and implement their great ideas.

We would also like to advise you that Lynne is now the new room leader in our Caterpillar Room. Lynne will continue to implement her amazing songs and wonderful activities. To support Amy D’s qualification and development Amy will be moving to our pre-school room and will be working alongside Lynne and Lara. As Lynne has taken over the room leader position in our pre-school room, this means Sharon will be the senior room lead for all rooms and will be overseeing their continuous development and practice.

With some staff changes happening over the next few weeks, your child’s key worker may change. Please look out for communication from your child’s room with these changes.

Parent forum

In January we held our first parent forum which was a great success. It was a lovely opportunity to hear the views and opinions of our parents. If you are interested and wish to attend our next meeting, please contact the office for more details. We would love to have you on board. We look forward to you joining.

Next Meeting – Thursday 23rd May 2019, Location – A Step Ahead Children’s Nursery, Time – 6:15pm.

Parent Games Night

As our last parent quiz night was such a success, we would really like to hold another event. It is a great excuse to hire a babysitter and enjoy a night of laughter and fun with the team. You are more than welcome to bring friends and family along to the event. We are hoping to hold the event on Friday 10th May 2019. Please contact the office if you are interested in joining.

WSCC Funding

If you are currently claiming the extended government funding, please do not forget to renew your eligibility code. This can be completed through your government log in. If you do not re-confirm your child’s code, your claim for the extended funding next term will be declined and we will be unable to claim the extra hours.

World Book 2019

World book day is Thursday 7th March. As a nursery we would like to celebrate this over the whole week, so everyone has the opportunity to dress up as their favourite characters. We would like everyone to dress up as characters from their favourite books and to bring their books to nursery to read with their friends and carers. We look forward to seeing everyone dressed up in their outfits.

This year we will be taking part in the 200 Million Minutes reading challenge, achievement for all. Please keep an eye out for your invitation to our family event which will be held in March, date to be confirmed.

Internet safety

The internet is an amazing tool for children to use. Children can play, learn, create and experiment with their ideas which can be shared with friends and family opening a whole world of exciting possibilities. But with the digital world changing frequently, how can you make sure your child is staying safe? As a nursery, we have done some research, and found some very helpful websites and tools for you to use at home and for us to use at nursery.

Smartie the penguin is a great tool to use for children in early years. Please see below the link for his website. We have printed the PowerPoint and story for our pre-school children and we will be introducing him slowly to the children.

New Website

Have you seen our new website? If you haven’t please check it out. We would love to know what you think and if you have any suggestions.

If you have your child’s iconnect profile all set up, please feel free to add your own observations from home. We would love to see what you get up to at the weekend and view their home achievements which can be added to their learning journals.

If you are having problems with iconnect please contact the office and we will be very happy to help.

Facebook and Instagram

Please check out our nursery Facebook page and have a look at what we are getting up to over the next few months. We have also set up a nursery Instagram profile page, please see below the links for our Facebook and Instagram.

Thank you for all your continuous support.
