Spring Newsletter 2019 (Rocking Horse)
As Spring seems just around the corner, we have lots of exciting events planned, here are some dates for your diary:
World Book Day – 7th March
We will be celebrating World Book Day all next week, commencing Monday 4th March.
Children may bring in a favourite story(named) and a Teddy Bear, as we will be focusing the week around our favourite bear stories. Every child will receive a book token worth £1, which can be used at book stores and some supermarkets. Our local Usborne rep will be leaving catalogues, where you can also spend the vouchers. Please let me know if you would like to see one.
On Thursday 7th March, we are having ‘Snuggly Sleep Time’ from 4-6pm. If you would like your child to attend or stay on please bring pyjamas. There is a £3 charge to include tea and babyccinos! If your child already attends there is no charge but don’t forget their jammies!
The Baby group will be starting ‘Song Of The Week’ soon. Each week we will send home the words of a favourite song we regularly sing which in time will build into your very own ‘Rocking Horse Songbook’. We hope you will enjoy sharing these favourite songs with your children.
Comic Relief – Friday 15th March
On Friday 15th March we will support the day by wearing red clothing. If you would prefer, you may donate then – many thanks.
To coincide with Mothers Day we will be holding Afternoon Tea at nursery on Saturday 23rd March from 3-5pm. There will be a £3 charge (on the day) with all proceeds going to Comic Relief. The children will be preparing something yummy for everyone – especially our Mummies. Please try and come and support this worthy cause.
Fee Review – April 2019
From 1st April we will be offering Term Time Only places if required. Please speak to me if you would like more details. As per your previous letter, our fees will be remaining the same this year, with the addition of nappies and lotion being included in the daily fees. I hope you will agree this is very good news and a convenience and cost advantage. I’m sourcing nappies at the moment, but we will probably use Asda’s own as the feedback I have had has all been positive. I will confirm lotion/cream in due course and as part of our ‘Save The Planet’ ethos we will no longer be using any type of wipes. Obviously if you would like to continue to use your own products please let me know.
On recent training with local Health Visitors we discussed the benefits of the HENRY programme. This is local advice including improved nutrition, emotional wellbeing, parenting skills, breastfeeding and getting more active. For more info please go to firstname.lastname@example.org
Please remember the stretched funding (22hours per week) is over 51 weeks and so finishes on Friday 23rd August. Therefore the last week of August is not funded.
The Summer Term starts on 1st April for stretched funded children and goes through until 23rd August.
Please ensure all codes for stretched funding are renewed when prompted by HMRC and not left until the end of your grace period.
TTO children will finish Friday 5th April and return Tuesday 23rd April.
Bertie the donkey:
Having now sponsored our donkey from Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary I recently sent out dates they are open at the weekends. If you have not received this please and would like a copy of the flyer, please let me know.
Visiting the old folk…
We have recently had another successful trip to Somerville Court to see the ‘olderly’ as one of the children calls them!!. We are planning to go again next month. This is proving very popular with children and grown ups alike. I’m trying to ensure everyone gets a turn, but am governed by their availability and our ratios so please bear with me! Many thanks.
A huge thankyou to Reuben’s Nanny for her kind donation of frogspawn. These have quickly hatched into tadpoles and are providing hours of fun for us all!!
