Summer Newsletter 2018 (Ashington)
We hope you have been enjoying the beautiful sunshine recently and making lots of memories! Could we please request that your children have had sun cream applied before nursery and have a hat to wear whilst playing in the garden. We can reapply sun cream to those children who are with us all day.
A huge congratulations to Hannah Harber in Twinkles for her promotion to Room lead continuing to work alongside Hannah will be Daisy and Pam. Another ‘Big Congratulations’ to Lauren Godden who is pregnant with her 1st child due in October 2018 we hope you will join us in wishing Lauren all the very best during her pregnancy.
It is with great sadness that Stacey West our Senior Nursery Practitioner will be leaving us at the end of May 2018. Stacey has been at Ashington for over 4 years and has worked with many of your children as they have moved through each room. I am sure you will join us in wishing Stacey every success in her future career.
We have a new staff member joining us in June – Bethany Charlwood was with us a student last year so already knows some of your children well. We are very excited to welcome her to the team.
What’s happening at Nursery…..?
I’m sure you got to hear about our chicks, the children absolutely loved having them, watching them grow and develop, changing every day. They will be popping back in to see us soon! All Stars have continued with looking at life cycles and how things grow, with this now progressing to the food’s we eat – you may have seen the ‘Handa’s surprise’ display in the room.
Will be very sad to say goodbye to 20 of our All Stars leaving for school this term! We will be celebrating with a leavers party on Tuesday 24th July more info will follow on this. We will soon be sending home some ‘getting ready for school’ info and we have already had some teachers in to visit with more planned.
Hopefully this will all help to ensure a smooth transition to school. Over the next few weeks we will be focusing on independence, encouraging children to dress themselves, including shoes, as well as working on their individual next steps and introducing some PE sessions.
Yvonne, Connor, Sandra and Gina
Have also been looking at how things grow and really enjoyed having the chicks in too! Their next focus is looking at friendships, feelings and emotions. Again, we would love you to share some of your moments from home with us, please upload your pictures to parentzone or email them in.
Abbey, Chloe and Lauren
Hannah has recently qualified in her Level 2 Makaton course and has begun to introduce this to the children at circle time and by having on signs of the week – you may have seen this displayed in Nursery. We are looking at holding some ‘stay and play’ sessions in the future – if this is something you would be interested in please let us know.
Twinkles next focus is ‘under the sea’ and ‘how things grow’…. Look out for artwork and pictures soon, we would love to see some of your pictures or videos from home too!
Hannah, Daisy and Pam
