Summer Newsletter 2019 (Little Acorns)

Dear Parents,

What a busy few weeks we’ve had! We are now coming into our last half term before the Summer holidays and the start of your children’s school journey… we have lots more fun to have before that though!

The launch of our Partnership Forum was a great success and we have already implemented some of your suggestions. As well as planning our fabulous graduation party, gaining parent feedback and discussing potential workshops to run, we have introduced a snack basket. The hamper in the cloakroom is free for you to bring in fruit/vegetables/crackers and breadsticks if you would like to. Although there is no obligation to bring food in for the children to share, all donations are gratefully received. If you are interested in joining our forum (we have cake), please let myself or Jo know- parents of children who are not going to school this September are particularly needed.
Please can you ensure the children’s clothes are labelled- we have an abundance of lost hoodies so initials in labels will ensure we can repatriate these!! Also, please ensure children have a sunhat and some sun-cream with them every day and that sun-cream is applied before school where possible. Thank you!

On 18th and 20th June, Southwater Infant Academy starters will have their settling in sessions. We will meet you at the school and sign the children over. Regretfully, we are unable to accompany children on these visits.
Thank you to the parents who have been in to visit us this half term and those who have donated accessories for our hairdressers. The children have loved doing each other’s hair which is not only enhancing their imaginative skills but their communication, vocabulary and social skills too.

Do take a look at our notice board in the cloakroom. This board will be updated regularly with important information and dates.

Dates for your diary:

Tuesday 4th June (afternoon)- African Land Snail visit! Evan and his mummy are going to bring in their African Land Snails for us to look at. If you would NOT like your child to take part, please let me know.

Friday 7th June- Pyjamarama! Please wear your pyjamas to nursery and bring a donation to BookTrust. We are also looking for any parents/relatives who would like to pop in to read to us on this day.

w/c 10th June- Healthy Eating Week. We will be making fruit kebabs, salad bags and smoothies as well as taking part in lots of other ‘healthy’ activities. Do you know anyone who would like to come in and speak with us? A nurse? A paramedic? A dentist? Please let me know.

Friday 14th June- Pre-school Skills Workshop 5:15-6:00 A workshop for parents and carers to learn how to help support children with core skills they will need before starting school.

Friday 21st June- INSET day

Monday 8th July- Garden Party 3:30-5:00 (non-school leavers)

Friday 19th July- Graduation 3:30-5:00 (school leavers)

Tuesday 23rd July- Last day of term

Please let me know any additional holiday dates, especially if they mean that your child will leave for good before their official last day.
Louise Kemp from Horsham Talk Time (Speech and Language Therapy) will be joining us every Friday next half term for a Makaton session. As you know, the children love to sign and pick them up rapidly. They are then able to use them to reinforce their spoken language. If you would NOT like your child to take part in these sessions, please let a member of staff know.
A huge thank you to everyone who have made purchases from our Amazon wish list. The children have adored having new resources to explore. If anyone has any empty notebooks they no longer need, we would love to have them in our mark making area.
As always, please continue to renew your 30 hour funding codes every 3 months if applicable to you.
Don’t forget to bring your photo proofs back by Friday and have a lovely week’s break! See you on Monday 3rd June.
Best wishes
Emily, Jo, Jamie, Katie, Kirsty and Chloe
