Summer Newsletter 2019 (Lower Beeding)
On Thursday 30th May we had our routine Ofsted inspection; our report should be published within the next 2-3 weeks. Once the official report has been published, we will of course share it with you.
Thank you to everyone for all your support, we have had a very few busy months filled with lots of achievements and great progression.
I’m delighted to announce that Gina V who was our student has joined our bank staff team. Gina V has recently completed her Level 3 qualification; she will be working across all the rooms implementing her lovely ideas and supporting the children’s development. Gina Ramsay will also be joining our team, Gina currently works at our Ashington Nursery, she will be sharing her working hours across both settings, Gina will be based in our Bumblebee Room on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Georgia has sadly decided to leave A Step Ahead, we would like to wish her all the best for the future. We are delighted to announce that Ashlee will be stepping up as the Bumblebee Room Leader. Supporting Ashlee in the Bumblebee Room will be Chelsea who has recently joined our team. Please look out for communications from Ashlee and Chelsea with regards to key worker changes. Both Ashlee and Chelsea will continue to develop the room and implement their great learning ideas and fun exciting activities to support each child’s individual learning and development. Sharon will be leading the Ladybird Room. Sharon and the team will continue to implement new ideas to support the learning and development of all the children in preparation for their transitions into the Bumblebee Room. Please look out for communications from Sharon and the team with regards to key worker changes.
Finally, Sandra will also be joining our team. Sandra has transferred from our Ashington Nursery and will be supporting all the rooms within the nursery on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays. Sandra will also be supporting our apprentices, observing their practice and supporting them through their qualifications.
In January we held our first parent forum which was a great success. It was a lovely opportunity to hear the views and opinions of our parents. If you are interested and wish to attend our next meeting, please contact the office for more details. We look forward to you joining us.

If you are currently claiming the extended government funding, please do not forget to renew your eligibility code, this needs to be carried out every 3 months which can be completed through your government log in. If you do not re-confirm your child’s code, your claim for the extended funding will be declined and we will be unable to claim the extra hours which will reflect in your invoice. As the government funding only covers 51 weeks of the year, please be advised that the W/C 26th August 2019 there will be no government funding applied to your child’s booking pattern.
Please be aware that we have joined and are now part of the “Tax Free Childcare” scheme. If you would like more information about the scheme and to know if you are eligible to be part of it, please click the link below.

They will be shooting a range of different photos, some natural in the nursery and in the garden, posed images and graduation images for our school leavers. If your child/children does not/do not attend nursery that day and you wish them to have their photos taken, please look out for available slots. These will be displayed on the main entrance door. The company that will be taking the photos work entirely online so I will be handing out some information for you to access your child’s photos online.
Hot weather/hats/sun cream
As summer is quickly approaching please ensure your child is dressed appropriately to enjoy their day at nursery.
We do ask for all children to have:
– A hat (named)
– A water bottle (named)
– Spare clothes (named)
– Alternative sun cream (if allergic to specific brands)
Before our outdoor sessions we will be applying sun cream to all children, if in the morning you have already applied sun cream please can you inform the team.
Nat from “Fatbottom Farm” has kindly contacted us again and asked if we would help look after 6 chick eggs as we did such a fantastic job last year. The children will then be able to watch the process and life cycle of a chick. The chicks will be closely monitored for around 2 weeks before they will have to be returned to the farm before being rehomed. The eggs will be arriving towards the end of the week.
This experience will create many learning opportunities for all the children and will enhance their learning and development.
If you would like to be kept informed of our chick process, please like our Facebook page to receive daily updates.
Have you seen our published article in “Nursery World”? Last month we took part in the “Achievement for All Award” and sent our article into “Nursery World” which they have published. We are delighted to share this exciting news with you all.
