Summer Newsletter 2019 (Rocking Horse)
Welcome to our new families who have recently joined us. We look forward to sharing your child/ren’s learning journey!
Dates for your diary
‘Muddy Puddle Walk’ – week commencing 13th May, supporting ‘Save The Children’ charity.
This event was extremely successful and popular last year and so we have decided to do it again! More details to follow soon, however, if any parents are free to assist during this week, please let me know. You will need wellies!!
Hopefully the weather will continue to warm up and we will therefore need all the children to have their own named suncream, preferably that we can keep at nursery. Please be aware we will not share suncreams therefore if your child is not protected they will be unable to play outside. We do have lot’s of sunhats but if you would prefer to bring your own please ensure it is named.
Food Bank Donations
As Easter approaches I would like to deliver another Food Bank offering to the church next door. You were all very generous last Autumn and our donations were very well received. Please bring any food donations in from week commencing 15th April. Dry goods only please, no chilled or fresh produce. Many thanks in advance.
Welcome back to our Term Time Only children. The Summer Term runs from 23rd April until 19th July, with half term week commencing 27th May.
Children with stretched funding will finish Friday 23rd August. As previously mentioned, the last week of August is not funded. Children are welcome to attend but fees will be billed as normal without funding applied.
Please let me know when your child’s last day will be. Children may still attend into September if your school staggers start date, however please be mindful there will be no funding available. One months notice wherever possible must be given before your child leaves. Please talk to me regarding future holiday places if you think you will require them.
School Readiness Programme
During the Summer Term all children leaving for school in September will be taking part in our School Readiness Programme. This is run by Laura who, with her great knowledge and experience of school preparation will lead the rest of the Pre school team in making sure children are equipped with the necessary skills for a smooth transition into Reception. This not only means more focused ‘classroom time’ to develop early phonics and literacy skills but also preparing the children to be emotionally resilient, capable and independent.
During the latter half of the Summer Term your child’s new Reception teacher should visit them here at nursery. Wherever possible we will let you know when this is happening. Don’t forget school allocation is Tuesday 16th April.
Toddler and Baby groups Parents Evening will be held week commencing 1st July.
A list of times will be available nearer the time.
Pre school Parent’s Evenings will be week commencing 8th July.
School Leavers Parents Evening will Thursday 11th July 6-7pm. This will give you the opportunity to read your child’s Transfer Profile, look through their work books and chat to parents whose children are attending the same school. I also have some useful information for parents regarding starting school. Refreshments will be served too!
School Leavers Celebration Picnic In The Park – Thursday 18th July – 2-4.30pm
Please keep this afternoon free to celebrate with the children and us. More details nearer the time….
Finally, we would like to wish you all A Very Happy Easter!
Helen and all at Rocking Horse.
