Leah will work alongside Chelsea in the room implementing new ideas and activities for all the children to be involved in. The team are very excited to continue progressing the room and children’s development.
Hannah will be joining our bank team and supporting the nursery when needed. Danny has also joined our bank team from Lancing. He will be working across all rooms throughout September and continue bank work while completing his degree. Please look out for our lovely new staff.
We are very sad to inform you that Martha will be leaving A Step Ahead on Friday 27th September. Martha has made the decision to move away with her boyfriend to Newbury. She has been a great asset to our team over the last 6 years and will be greatly missed by everyone. We want to Thank her for her continuous hard work, over the last few years and wish her all the best for the future.
From November payments
Please be advised that from 1st November 2019 we will no longer be accepting cash or cheque payments at any of our nurseries.
Our preferred method of payment will be by BACS transfer directly into our bank account.
If you require details of our bank account, please contact either the Nursery Manager or Accounts Manager to obtain these.
You will also be able to settle your invoices by debit card. If you would like to use this method of payment, please take your debit card to the Nursery Manager, who will be able to arrange this for you.
We will, of course, still be accepting payments via childcare vouchers and the Government’s Tax-Free Childcare scheme.
If you have any queries regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact either the Nursery Manager or Accounts Manager.
Speech and language visit
I am delighted to announce that we have a special guest coming to visit the children and team on Tuesday 17th October to support and enhance a prime area of learning and development: Communication and Language. Our guest, Louise Kemp is a Speech and Language therapist and will be joining us to share her language, speech and sensory activities. Aside from being an exciting and fun experience for the children, it will be an excellent training opportunity for the team.
To make the most of the visit, we would like to record the activities so that team members can reflect on the practice and enhance further. There will be permission slips available in each room which will need to be completed and handed back.Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
As the colder weather is quickly approaching please ensure your child is dressed appropriately to enjoy their day at nursery. We do ask for all children to have:
- A warm hat (named)
- A water bottle (named)
- Spare clothes (named)
Nativity play/Winter Wonderland
This year we plan to perform our second nativity play. Sharon and the team will begin to plan and organise a short play for parents and carers to attend. After our nativity we will be transforming the hall into our Winter Wonderland. Parents and carers will be invited into the holding hall for tea/coffee and mince pies while we set up.
The event will be held on Sunday 1st December 2019 at Lower Beeding Village Hall. The nativity will start at 10:30am.
Please keep a look out for further information.
Concept photography will be attending the nursery on Wednesday 2nd October. If your child/ren does not attend nursery that day and you wish for them to have their photos taken, please look at for available slots that will be displayed on the main entrance door.
In January we held our first parent forum which was a great success. It was a lovely opportunity to hear the views of our parents. If you are interested and wish to attend our next meeting, please contact the office for more details. We look forward to you joining us.
Next Meeting – Wednesday 30th October 2019, Location – A Step Ahead Children’s Nursery, Time – 6:15pm.
If you are currently claiming the extended government funding, please do not forget to renew your eligibility code, this needs to be carried out every 3 months which can be completed through your government log in. If you do not re-confirm your child’s code, your claim for the extended funding will be declined and we will be unable to claim the extra hours which will reflect in your invoice.
Please be aware, we have joined the “Tax Free Childcare” scheme. If you would like more information and to know if you are eligible, please click the link below.
Please make sure you collect your children on time after your child’s session. We normally ask that parents arrive ten minutes before their child’s end session to get a full hand over. Please bear in mind that pick-up times can be busy so you might have to wait a minute for your handover.
Have you seen our new website? If you haven’t please check it out. We would love to know what you think and if you have any suggestions.
If you have your child’s iconnect profile all set up, please feel free to add your own observations from home. We would love to see what you get up to at the weekend and view their home achievements which can be added to their learning journals.
If you are having problems with iconnect please contact the office and we will be very happy to help.
